Bogle's Second-Place Finish In Detroit Is Career Best For Geico Honda Rider

GEICO Honda rider Justin Bogle will remember the Motor City for quite some time. The 250SX East rider man-handled a technical, slippery track laid out inside downtown Detroit's Ford Field for a second-place finish, his best Supercross result ever.

"This feels so good," Bogle said minutes after the race. "This is certainly a step in the right direction. It feels so good to get GEICO and Honda up on the podium."

Bogle used a solid holeshot to his advantage into the first turn, where he found himself in third position behind Martin Davalos and Adam Cianciarulo.

"I finally put myself in a good place at the start," Bogle said. "I've got the speed and I've got the fitness to run with anybody."

Davalos crashed on lap two, and Bogle tucked in behind Cianciarulo in what was pretty much a one-lane racetrack and battled him for the remainder of the race. Bogle could close up to the first-place rider at various points around the track but could never quite get in position to take the top spot. One of the spots Bogle routinely would close the gap was on a ramp that ran up the east grandstands, similar to one used during Supercross events at the Pontiac Silverdome in suburban Detroit.

"That ramp was cool, cool for the history of it, old school like at Pontiac," Bogle said. "But it was also difficult because of the rhythms down at the bottom. It became very technical."

Bogle, fourth in the season points standings, hopes to continue the momentum as the series moves to Toronto on March 22.

"No doubt I've got good vibes going to Toronto. It's my birthday next weekend, I'm feeling strong physically, and we definitely have some momentum."

While Bogle left the Motor City riding high, GEICO Honda teammates Matt Bisceglia and Wil Hahn would rather forget Detroit.

In the 250 class, Bisceglia won the Last Chance Qualifier race to make it to main event, where he crashed on the first lap and eventually finished a disappointing 19th.

"Well, I had a couple of first-lap crashes and that was it. I'm not sure what I'm doing at the start. This was a pretty tough track and it was rough. I had a bad night," Bisceglia said.

GEICO Honda 450SX rider Will Hahn didn't fare much better in his main event. An early fall dropped him to the back of the pack, where he fought hard, eventually finishing 14th.

"I fell early and then I fell again. I really never gave myself a chance," Hahn said. "I needed to use my head but I didn't."
