The 2014 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix Changes Management


The administration of Krasnodar region announced on 19 March 2014 about the changes in top management of the Department for organization of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix of OJSC “Center “Omega”.

This decision was announced at the meeting of the Department’s team by Alexander Saurin, Deputy Head of Krasnodar region administration and supervisor of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix project.

Sergey Vorobyev acting previously as the Deputy Director of the Department for organization of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix of OJSC “Center “Omega”, was appointed an Acting Director of the Department. The region’s administration announced that Oleg Zabara has done an excellent job and he will now be responsible for other projects. Meanwhile, there were no more personnel changes in the Department, and the Promoter’s team, as well as the project’s development strategy, will remain intact.

Sergey Vorobyev has been involved in the project of preparation and deliver y of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix since 2012 – prior to being appointed a Deputy Director of the Department in 2013, he worked as the Commercial Director of the Department. He has extensive experience in delivery of the most significant racing circuits in Russia – NRing, Moscow Raceway, PrimRing. He studied and worked abroad, graduated from the Higher School of Economics (Specialist in international economics).

Richard Cregan, international consultant of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix Promoter, commented on the change in the Promoter’s management: «Oleg did a very good job in building a team of professionals and establishing good reputation of the project. It is important to note that Sergey Vorobyev has been involved in the organization of the Russian Grand Prix for several years. He cooperates with FOM, he is very involved in the details of work processes, and he is acquainted with major figures of the automotive industry and the world of motorsport. The team and the administration support him, so, there is comprehensive succession of the project management and there is no doubt he will be successful».
