Supashock Upgrade Keeps V8 Ute Teams in Suspension

Australian Damper Technologies has been appointed the control suspension supplier for the 2014 Australian V8 Ute Racing Series.

The Company has been involved in the development of product over the past few months, with all Utes running the new “Supashock” suspension package at the Clipsal 500 recently.

“As the racing Utes weigh around 1,800 kg, the demands on the suspension are quite high, and durability is always a concern. Supashock has designed the shafts to be extremely durable, to be able to cope with the harsh racing environment without failure. The dampers are now all valved and tuned to suit each particular manufacturer, so the performance is much closer and the ability of this shock to have good ride control, without harshness and effectively ride the curves is exceptional,” explained Supashock Managing Director Oscar Fiorinotto.

The revised package launched at the first Round of the Series earlier in the month and competitors couldn’t be happier.

“We’ve had great feedback from the teams in respect to the new shock, with the tight corners and tough chicanes at the Clipsal 500, there was no better place to launch and test it,” said Category Manager from SPHERIX Bill West.

Fiorinotto was involved with the V8 Ute Series in 2013 as a technical consultant, responsible for the balance of performance simulation for each race track, and saw this as a great opportunity to further involve his company within the V8 Ute Series.

“Our involvement last year created a very good relationship and with the announcement of the new evolUTEion 2016 platform, similar to V8 Supercars, this was of particular interest.

Our role has been to create consistency with the dampers throughout the field, not only to ensure equal performance, but to have the opportunity to design a product for the current Ute series, as a good lead in for the new Ute platform in 2016,” said Fiorinotto.

Supashock also supplies to various teams in the European GT, Australian GT and Tarmac Rally Championship, through Ford Performance Racing in V8 Supercars, and pleased to add the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series to their expanding list.

“Supashock is very proud to be associated with the V8 Ute Series, with Supashock capability in design, manufacture, simulation and analysis - we think is a good fit for one of the best low cost control categories in the world,” said Fiorinotto.

The V8 Utes will be back on track for Round 2 of the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series at Barbagallo Raceway Perth, 16th – 18th May.
