No Looking Back For Top-10 Rider And Former St Louis Winner Hahn

Supercross pro Wil Hahn continues his inaugural season in the premier 450SX class Saturday at Edward Jones Dome intent on leaving his mark in the series. The reigning 250SX East champion knows another podium finish in St. Louis is well within his grasp, and he plans on putting all the pieces together on the banks of the Mississippi.

"Returning (to St. Louis) really energizes me," Hahn said. "Winning this race last year pretty much kicked off our final stretch run and definitely helped me in the championship standings. It was one of the biggest days of my professional career, for sure.

"Coming back on the bigger bike, I feel like everything is falling into place for me at the perfect time. My fitness and speed are there, and if I can avoid mistakes I feel very confident that I can put GEICO Honda on the podium."

Currently ranked ninth in the standings, Hahn has finished in the top 10 at five races this season. He has also had a few falls that have put a damper on otherwise great outings, but he knows that's part of the sport.

"Everyone crashes," said Hahn, who resides in Decatur, Texas. "It's how you recover and sometimes if you can recover from a crash that can make or break a race or even the whole season. I've been relatively healthy this year, and the mistakes I've made are ones I recognize and know how to correct. I feel really good about things."

Buoying Hahn's good vibes is the success of teammate Justin Bogle, who won the most recent SX race in Toronto and is now just five points off the 250SX East lead.

"Justin is my best friend, and to see him fight like this to keep that title with the GEICO Honda team is really something to watch," Hahn said. "He's doing great, and we've been talking about sharing the podium at some point for years. Maybe this will be the weekend. By the way things are going, he'll be able to hold up his end of the bargain. I just need to step up my game and ride clean and we'll have another day to remember.

"How cool would it be to have a GEICO Honda 250 and 450 on the podium?"

FOX Sports 1 will carry all of the heat races, semifinals, LCQs, and both main events live from St. Louis beginning at 7:30 p.m., Saturday.
