2014 NHRA: ProtectTheHarvest.com Driver Brogdon Ready To Win In Las Vegas

Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon is ready to see the bright win lights at this weekend's SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals, March 28-30 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

His ProtectTheHarvest.com Camaro has always run well at The Strip, but Brogdon isn't putting his guard down anytime soon. He is approaching the next stop in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series just like he would any other: one round and one day at a time.

"My first focus going into Las Vegas is to make four good runs throughout qualifying," Brogdon said. "Once we get through qualifying, then I will shift my focus to eliminations and moving through the rounds. Until then, I'm only concerned with getting as much speed as I possibly can out of my ProtectTheHarvest.com Camaro. That's when I'll be really happy."

Work never stops for Brogdon, who packed up his things right after the Gatornationals and headed straight to Las Vegas for more testing. In his continual search for a slight advantage over the competition, Brogdon thinks they have finally found an answer to his problems that will put him back into championship contention.

"Right after Gainesville we loaded up the car and headed to Las Vegas to see what we could learn," Brogdon said. "We made a few runs there that have us feeling very optimistic heading into this weekend. Just like all season, we found changes to make small gains.

"If you pick up two- or three-thousandths of a second, that is the difference between gaining five more starting positions. All season we've been looking for those two-thousandths to be even more competitive. We think we found that gain and look forward to showing off our improvements in Las Vegas."

Brogdon will put those new changes to the test when qualifying begins at 1:30 p.m. PST, Friday, and continues that day with another session at 4:30 p.m. Qualifying will wrap up with two sessions at 1:10 and 3:50 p.m., Saturday. Final eliminations start at noon, Sunday. ESPN2 will air the qualifying show at 5 p.m. EDT, Sunday, and the eliminations show at 8 p.m.
