Ngk Racing Series Round 13 & 14 At Yas Marina

The penultimate race day of the 2013-2014 NGK Racing Series takes place at Yas Marina Circuit on Friday, 28 March.

In Class 1 Costas Papantonis has been virtually unchallenged all season long and will again be the man expected to set the pace, and thus the man to beat, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix venue in his Gulf Petrochen SEAT, with newcomer Hussain Al Malkawi campaigning his SEAT on the day.

Also in the top class battle will be Brian McGinley in the Phoenix Motorsport Opel, and BMW duo Petr Valek and Marcel Kusin.

All eyes will be on the increasingly close, and fierce, Class 2 title battle where Honda duo Rupesh Channake and Jonathan Mullan are slugging it out for the coveteted title. A mere four points separate them at the top of the points table, with four races remaining in the series. The pair have been swapping wins in recent races, and much of the same is expected at Yas Marina.

However, Alexandros Annivas could be the proverbial 'thorn in their side' as he duels on two fronts in his Renault Clio, namely the Class 2 title race and the race-within-a-race Clio Cup. In the latter he leads the standings from Simon Dennis by 41 points, and will be looking to overturn two DNFs suffered last time out.

Dennis, meanwhile, bagged two wins at Dubai Autodrome in the previous round and will be looking to keep up the pressure, as another slip up from Annivas could give Dennis the opportunity to seriously challenge for the title at the season finale next month.

Dragon Racing have entered their McLaren for the Yas Marina round of the series with team boss Leon Price set to do duty in the cockpit.
Qualiyfing on Friday for the NGK Racing Series starts at 09:35am with the first of the two races scheduled for 11:15 am and the second race to be flagged off at 15:10 pm.

Also on the bill are races for Formula Gulf 1000, the Radical Winter Cup and UAE Time Attack.
