NMPA Hall of Famer Steve Waid Joins PopularSpeed.com

Nine months ago, PopularSpeed.com was launched and in that time has successfully found a niche that balances NASCAR news, exclusive content and pointed editorials. Growing rapidly over this time, their success lies within the staff.

Now, Popular Speed is proud to announce the latest addition to their growing executive staff. @SteveWaid has joined the team and will immediately assume the role of Features and Opinions Editor.

Waid, a former President of the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA), has covered NASCAR for more than four decades. He is a past winner of the organization's George Cunningham Writer of the Year award, and in 1989 was presented the Henry T. McLemore Award for distinguished service in the field of motorsports journalism.

This past January, Waid was inducted into the NMPA Hall of Fame along with Mario Andretti and Ray Evernham.

"Mike (Calinoff, Publisher) called a few weeks ago and asked if I was interested in coming on board," said Waid. "I've been a fan of Popular Speed since it began and have been impressed with how it has grown. I'm excited to be working with Mike -- and his staff -- on this. His aggressive business style is going to make this really enjoyable."

"Our explosive growth has been a result of talent we've recruited and the up-and-coming stars in our Development Journalist program. The site has far exceeded it's 18-month projections in just nine months," said Founder/Publisher, Mike Calinoff. "Having Steve join us in this capacity, brings PopularSpeed.com to the next level. I'm honored to have him on our team."
