NGK Racing Series Round 13 & 14 at Yas Marina

As expected Leon Price was untouchable in his Dragon Racing Ferrari on the penultimate race day of the 2013-2014 NGK Racing Series at Yas Marina Circuit, posting a comfortable win on the day, with Costas Papantonis equally dominant with two wins in Class 2, including overall victory in race two at the wheel of his Gulf Petrochem SEAT.

The real action was behind the two veterans in Class 2 where the championship is set to go down to the wire after a day of mixed fortunes for the top three contenders, Honda duo Jonathan Mullan and Rupesh Channake, along with Gulf Petrochem Renault Clio stalwart Alex Annivas.

Mullan took the win in race one with Annivas second and Channake only racking up four laps, and classified last.

In race two Annivas stunned the Honda brigade by taking victory, ahead of Channake who bounced back from the first race disappointment to take second and race one winner Mullan having to settle for third.

The results on the day sets up an intriguing two race finale next month, where the Class 2 championship will be decided at Dubai Audodrome.

In the race-within-a-race Clio Cup, Annivas grabbed maximum points with his efforts and has sewn up the title with two races still to run. Simon Dennis was second best, in his Clio, in the both races.

Shannon Ward was fifth and second, in race one and race two respectively, at the wheel of his KTM X-Bow.

Annivas said afterwards, "It was a good day with lots of trophies, and of course the Class 2 title is now wide open as we go to the season finale at Dubai Autodrome. As for the Clio Cup title we will celebrate that at the end of the final race day. Thank you to my team and my sponsors Gulf Petrochem who make this possible."

The NGK Racing Series comes to a conclusion on 11 April at Dubai Autodrome.
