2014 Malaysia GP: Formula One F1 Qualifying Q1 LIVE Stream - Rosberg Fastest in Q1, Ericsson Crashes!

By PaddockTalk.com Staff Writers

Qualifying for the 2014 Malaysian Grand Prix got off to a slow start after a 50 minute delay due to inclement weather. Leading the way in Q1 was the Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton who have led every session this weekend.

Third quick was Sebastian Vettel at 1:57.654 with Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso fourth and fifth respectively.

The session was red flagged with 35 seconds to go after an accident with Marcus Ericsson (Caterham) smashed into the barriers. His front right suspension clearly damaged. The flags were brought out since his car slid back onto the racing surface.

Knocked out in Q1 qualifying were: Marcus Ericsson (Caterham), Max Chilton (Marussia), Kamui Kobayashi (Caterham), Jules Bianchi (Marussia), Adrian Sutil (Sauber) and Pastor Maldonado (Lotus).

Pirelli have brought new wet tyres for the 2014 season which are able to remove water at the rate of 65 liters a second, up from 60 a second last year.
