" Well, I mean, with qualifying being canceled, I feel we lost our chance to get the pole here at the first race of the season; starting second isn't so bad ether. My Andretti crew have worked extremely hard to give me a great car, and I hope to repay them with a win come tomorrow! We've started the 2014 season off well so far, and I'd like to keep our momentum going by securing some valuable points in the RePLAY XD car tomorrow. I want to thank RePLAY XD, Young Marines, ADS IT Solutions, Bell Helmets and OMP for all of their support this weekend."

Matthew Brabham, No. 83 United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED
• Due to the canceled qualifying session, starts tomorrow's season opener from the third grid position
• Starts the 45-lap race as the highest placed rookie on the starting grid

"Today didn't play out so well for us. We made some improvements to the car from yesterday, and I felt really strong in the opening of our first practice session. Unfortunately, my second gear snapped clean in half inside the gear box towards the end of the session, which is just one of those weird unexplainable things. I'm glad we still ended up third, but I know we had a lot more pace to display. I'm disappointed we weren't able to showcase what we have during a qualifying session, but our starting position could be worse. I hope we can bring United Fiber & Data and Mazda a great resulttomorrow."

PRO MAZDA PRESENTED BY COOPER TIRES

Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck
• Qualified in P4 for Race One
• Fell back to 17th during the 17-lap race and finished 10th

" In racing you definitely have your good days and bad days; today was definitely a bad day for the No. 28 crew. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on the second lap - the guy in front of me broke a lot earlier than everyone else around us. I had to dodge him which put me on the wet part of the race track. I think we had a pretty good car if we had some clear air to run in. We've got some stuff to work on here and there, but hopefully we get a good starting spot for tomorrow and we get the best we can out of it."

Garett Grist, No. 27 DaVinci Foods/Lander Property Management
• Qualified in the eighth position for his first regular season Pro Mazda race
• The rookie was caught in an incident on Lap 2 and fell back to P18 and finished P17

"Today was a rough day for our first Pro Mazda race of the regular season. We had already passed two guys right on the first lap, got to Turn 5 and one of the guys hit the breaks really hard, and I had no where to go and got into the back of him. I had to come in for a new front wing, and the front right suspension was bent. They tried to straighten it a bit, but it was still bent of the rest of the race. I was able to go out and turn the same time as the leaders most of the time even with the bent part. Tonight we'll get everything fixed and should have a good car for tomorrow's race."
