At the opening round of the championship, the Clipsal 500, Percat came within five laps of scoring a podium spot for Sunday’s 250km race.

In the second championship round at Symmons Plains in Tasmania last weekend, Percat’s name appeared in the top ten in all three practice sessions on Friday, with the HHA Racing Commodore second fastest in the second session, behind Craig Lowndes.

Percat also qualified in the top ten for Sunday’s race, but was knocked off the track in an opening lap skirmish that saw him fall to the back of the field. From there, Percat worked his way to 15th, showing plenty of pace and excellent lap times throughout the 84-lap race.

This weekend the championship trail arrives at Winton Raceway in northern Victoria, the home track of the Walkinshaw Racing stable.

Percat has tasted success in Formula Ford, the Dunlop Series and Porsche Carrera Cup at Winton. In 2012 he convincingly won the Dunlop Series round and last year scored pole position and a race win in the Porsche.

Nick Percat: “Sunday’s qualifying and race pace in Tasmania showed plenty of potential and I was pleased with my times.

“Winton is a track I’ve done plenty of laps around and I aim to continue the momentum we have built up so far. It’s a hard track on tyres, but I looked after mine quite well in Tasmania and I can’t wait to get back on track this weekend”.
