Ricardo Gonzalez Signs With Art Grand Prix For The 2014 European Le Mans Series

Ricardo Gonzalez announced today that he will compete in the 2014 European Le Mans Series with ART Grand Prix driving a McLaren MP4 12C GT3. Gonzalez takes on this new challenge after a historic year in 2013 when he became only the second Mexican driver to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and was also crowned LM P2 champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Gonzalez will compete for the first time in his career in a GT3 car, which he will share with Alex Brundle and Karim Ajlani. The ART teammates will be a part of an impressive 16-car GTC field during the five rounds of the ELMS.

The 36-year-old driver yesterday began the official activities at the Paul Ricard circuit where the ELMS is holding a two day pre-season test. The test marks only the second time that he drives the #99 McLaren after taking part in a private test at Magny Cours two weeks ago.

The European Le Mans Series consist of three categories, LM P2, LM GTE, and GTC. The schedule includes four-hour races at five different countries including England, Italy, Austria, France and Portugal.
