2014 Texas: Ford NASCAR Nationwide Race Quotes

TREVOR BAYNE - No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang - THE REAR TIRE WAS YOUR WHOLE RACE. "We had a tire go down. It started getting really loose about lap 25 into the run. I don’t know if the tire was leaking the whole time or if it just wore really bad, but going through one and two about two or three laps before that happened I said, ‘The right rear feels really bad,’ and then the next two laps I said it again and again and then all of a sudden I lost it into three. The tire didn’t explode, so I thought it just had a flat. I went to drive around because I didn’t want to lose my lap to the 5 car and as soon as I got on the gas right past pit road it blew apart, so I couldn’t get to pit road. Had we got to pit road, we could have salvaged our day, but at that point we lost so many laps trying to repair it. The car is destroyed. I don’t feel like I did a great job making a quick decision there to get to pit road, but I didn’t know the tire was gonna blow up. That’s not exactly the day we wanted. I thought we had a good race car in practice and qualifying and thought this could be one where we could start gaining some progress and making some top-five headway, but that first run just ruined our whole day. We don’t even know what kind of car we had really with the tire going down that long, and then obviously not a great points day. We’ll keep working hard. Everybody is gonna have these days. Hopefully, this is our only one for a long time."

RYAN BLANEY - No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang - "It was frustrating. We weren’t good all night. Every change we made wouldn’t help it or over-adjusted. I don’t know. It’s confusing to me how it would start off doing one thing and then at the end of the run it was doing something completely different. We’ll go back and work on it and hopefully be better here for the fall."

RYAN REED - No. 16 ADA Drive to Stop Diabetes Ford Mustang - "That was a long one for sure. We just couldn’t seem to hit on anything. We started off tight and made an adjustment and it went to really loose. It was back and forth all night, and then that speeding penalty definitely didn’t help anything, so overall it was a rough night and one we want to learn from. We kept all the fenders on the car, so that’s a positive. I think after the start to the season we had we really just wanted to go and finish some races, so at least we’re doing that. If we can keep finishing races, then we’ll work on some speed and get some momentum here."

CHRIS BUESCHER - No. 60 Roush Performance Parts Ford Mustang - "The guy in front of us dumped a lapped car and there was nowhere to go. It is what it is. Our Roush Performance Ford Mustang was pretty fast. I think we started off really good and passed a ton of cars. The fact we started back there like we did and had to try to make up ground was a challenge, but our car was good. Circumstances were not in our favor this weekend and this is where we ended up. It’s not good." WHAT HAPPENED WITH INSPECTION AND NOT BEING ABLE TO MAKE A QUALIFYING RUN? "It seemed like there were 10-15 cars at the grid system over there and nobody seemed to be able to pass it. I don’t know if we were all in the wrong or what it was, but it was frustrating for sure."
