The MotoGP World Championship returns to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, as Austin, Texas, hosts the second round of the 2014 season. Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa come into the US round on a high, having both been on the podium in Qatar and following a 1-2 finish at the event last year. In Moto3, it is a special race for Alex Rins, who won his first Grand Prix at Austin last season. He and teammate Alex Marquez will be trying to earn a first victory for the new Honda Moto3 bike.

The spotlight was on the reigning MotoGP World Champion in Qatar, and Marc Marquez continues to be the focal point of the series following his win at round 1. It was at Austin that he became the youngest rider in history to win a premier class race. He and Dani Pedrosa produced a 1-2 finish at last year’s race, setting the bar high for 2014. In Moto3, a podium for Alex Marquez and a positive feeling for Alex Rins in Qatar allow the two Spanish riders to be optimistic ahead of the visit Stateside, where they will look to fight for the win at the scene of Rins’ first Moto3 triumph.

Marc Marquez
"Since Qatar I’ve been focusing on getting my leg stronger and my body fitter in preparation for the Austin race this weekend. This track is one of my favourite tracks, I had a good race here last year where I have good memories of taking my first win in the MotoGP class. We’ll have to wait and see the situation with the new rules for this year, but anyway we will be focused on our work. Thankfully the majority of hard turns are left handers at this track which is easier on my leg as I’m still not 100% fit."

Dani Pedrosa
"I've had a good training week at home and now I'm looking forward to get to Austin, to see the team and ride at a track I like. We had a good race there last year and we’ll have to see how the bike works there this year. I hope to ride well and that we are greeted by the usual good atmosphere in America at this second visit to Austin for the GP!"

Alex Rins
"Austin is a circuit that suited us rather well last year. Maybe it will be a little tougher this year, as we have a completely new bike and need to find the best setup. We hope to adapt quickly and that things go a little better. I think that the bike can work well at the Circuit of the Americas; it corners very well and is smooth through the apex, plus it has good acceleration. We’ll see on Friday."

Alex Marquez
"Last year we found things a little hard in Austin. We didn’t ever completely find the best lines and I didn’t feel very comfortable. This year I will have to be as focused as possible and give my all in every session. Placing second in Qatar motivates us more to work hard. It is a circuit with fast corners and plenty of acceleration, so I think that our bike can adapt well and that it will be a favourable track for us."
