ProtectTheHarvest.com/Mavtv Rider Arana Ready To Race In Charlotte

In only his second full season on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana sits poised for success this weekend at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

The ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell team may have had a slight break in action, but the youngest member of the Arana Racing family is more than ready to not only hit the track again but to try take home a win after waiting a month since the first Pro Stock Motorcycle race of the 2014 season.

"It feels so good to know that I will be back on my bike this weekend," Arana said. "The off-season was long for me and my family because we didn't test at all, but this past month since we raced in Gainesville (Fla.) seemed even longer. I'm ready to get back out on the track, continue to dial my bike in, and hopefully get my first win.

"Gainesville wasn't the start I really wanted from the season performance-wise, but I do feel like my mentality was in the right place. All I can do is take what I've learned so far and apply it to the next race. I'm in a situation where I can only prepare myself. I can try to work on my bike before I get there, but it's hard to replicate track conditions."

Not only is Arana mentally prepared for this season, but he doesn't feel phased by the idea of racing against three other competitors in every round this weekend.

"Even though there are four lanes, you have to approach each round like you would if it was only you and one other bike," Arana said. "The main goal is to always get to the starting line first. The only difference with the Four-Wide Nationals is that it offers a little comfort in knowing that even if you cross the starting line second you still move on to the next round.

"The only tricky part of having four lanes to worry about is the staging. Even though last year was my first time running four-wide, I was comfortable with staging. I hope to have that same state of mind and be comfortable again this year."

Arana will continue his battle for his first NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series win when qualifying for the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals kicks off at 1:15 p.m., Friday. Three other qualifying sessions will be held at 4:15 p.m. on Friday and 1:15 and 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Final eliminations, which will be broadcast in tape delay on ESPN2, will begin at noon on Sunday.
