SCOTT PRUETT: “The track conditions started out better than what we had anticipated. Good grip. Ford engine’s running good. The Telcel (Ford EcoBoost Riley), seems like we’ve got a good balance. I know everyone’s looking for total grip, but overall we rolled out with good balance, so we’re just making some fine-tunes to it, and then it’s just about being mindful of the track. It’s just continuing to get more rubber on it, and as it gets more rubber it’ll get faster.”

MEMO ROJAS: “It was a pretty good session for us. It hasn’t been awhile since we rolled off the truck that quick and the car looks pretty good. We still have room for improvement. We were p1 and the cars good, we just need to keep fine-tuning. I know other teams will improve but it’s a good way to start the weekend.”

OZZ NEGRI: “The car was pretty good. I did five laps and it was running p1. The track will improve. It was very green, but it’s always good when the car rolls out of the trailer as good as it did. That’s the homework and hard work that (I’ve talked about) we’ve been doing. Let’s see how the weekend progresses. We’re going to keep working hard and all the other teams are going to too. It’s just a matter of who works the hardest.”

JOHN PEW: “It’s a pretty fun track, though new to me. I’m still learning the nuances in the track. It’s been easier to learn than Detroit. This seems to be is a consistent track whereas Detroit has some pretty tough changes in track surface and the angles of the track where you’re off-camber one moment and literally the next moment the camber has switched. We walked the track Thursday between sessions and Ozz (Negri) pointed out the places that particular care was necessary; mostly being aware of the walls on either side. No one wants to so much as even just kiss them.”
