Season Opener: Emily Packard Excited For 2014

It’s been three years since she last raced at Lee USA Speedway, but Late Model driver, Emily Packard is looking forward to it. "I’m excited to be back at Lee. The last time I raced there was in the Allison Legacy Series three years ago," Packard said.

Emily Packard and her No. 9x team will be looking to qualify for the ACT Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway this Sunday April 13, 2014, as she sets out to run the full ACT Tour this year. "We are planning to run the ACT Tour this season, even though it’s less races, there are a lot of different tracks," said Packard, "like White Mountain Motorsports Park, we’ve never been there, but we are excited for the season as a whole."

The ACT season opener starts on April 12, 2014 with a day of practice to shake the car down after the long winter. "No major changes were made to the car this winter," Packard said. They have spent the last month and a half working on the two cars getting them ready for their upcoming racing season.

Being the first race of the season, Packard’s goal is to qualify and get a good solid finish to get them set up for the season. The young driver has an aggressive race schedule this season, in addition to running the full ACT Tour, she is planning to run the full season at Thunder Road, some select races at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, and the Vermont State Championship races. Neal Woodward is back again this season to turn the wrenches as her crew chief, as they continue to build on their momentum from last year.

Racing starts on Sunday April 13, 2014 with heats for the American Canadian Tour at 1:30 pm.
