The Verizon IndyCar series is on the streets of Long Beach, California this weekend for the longest running annual street event in the United States - the 2014 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The Long Beach street circuit is a 1.968-mile, 12-turn event that surrounds the Long Beach Convention Center and races down historic Shoreline Drive. The surface can be a bit tricky with asphalt, and concrete sections which change braking and acceleration opportunities for drivers.

Mario Andretti won the first CART race back in 1984 in a Lola/Cosworth with an average speed of 82.898 mph. The winners came in streaks over the years with Al Unser Jr winning six times, Paul Tracy four times, and Mario Andretti & Sebastian Bourdais each winning three times.

With the arrival of the IndyCar series, that has changed with five different winners in six events with no driver winning from Pole in those races. The only driver to have won twice in that span is Will Power.

But one stat has been true no matter which type of car has driven here, only one driver has won from further back than fourth since Michael Andretti started 15th in 2002 - Will Power (2012). In fact the winner has started fourth or better 24 times in 30 races.

Its a tough track to move forward on.

Today, Ryan Hunter-Reay will start this Grand Prix from Pole with James Hinchcliffe at his side. Just behind Sebastien Bourdais and Josef Newgarden make up row two.

Our pick for the win today will go to James Hinchcliffe. The second starting position has won this event eight times.

If that should fail, keep an eye on Ryan Hunter-Reay to be the first IndyCar Polesitter to take victory. Sebastien Bourdais was the last polesitter to take victory, back in the Champ Car World Series in 2007.

So enjoy! And be sure to check out round two of the 2014 IndyCar season, the Toyota Grand Prix.
