Good Pace And Top Ten Finishes For AVF In F.Renault NEC Season Opener

In an hectic weekend that saw AVF on track with both the F.Renault 3.5 and the F.Renault 2.0 team at the same time, the Spanish outfit proved to have all the skills needed to manage a double racing programme with ease. In Monza, the renowned Italian track that played host to the North European Championship season opener, AVF lined-up four cars for Matthew Graham, Roy Geerts, Christain Surguladze and Josef Zaruba.

Each one with a different background, the four AVF youngsters performed extremely well. Being more experienced, Geerts and Graham challenged for a top-5 spot in each and every session of the weekend, and only race contacts, something that happens often in a pack crowded with over 40 cars, prevented them for achieving great results in the races: despite that, they proved to be competitive and Graham managed to get the first points of his season with a 7th place finish in Race 2. With little or no single-seater experience, Surguladze and Zaruba focused on learning, and their approach paid off: they managed to put important miles under their belts getting to the finish in both races, and furthermore they achieved impressive results, with Zaruba bagging a top ten finish in Sunday's race.

Adrian Vallés – Team Principal
"The weekend went more or less as we expected. Some contacts into the races prevented us from achieving even better results, but our cars performed well throughout the three days, being steadily in the top ten and often in the top five. We go home knowing that we have got the pace to fight at the top, and it's a great boost for our confidence. I'm also happy with the job our drivers did. As expected Geerts and Graham were able to challenge for the top spots, and what happened in the races is a good lesson that will prove useful for the next races. I was also amazed by the great progression showed by both Surguladze and Zaruba. Their laptimes improved session after session, they finished both races and Josef even bagged a top ten finish. All in all it was a very positive weekend for us".
