After uncovering problems during Thursday's dedicated test session, the team began to work frantically to repair the issues. Sadly the glitches carried on into practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday, leaving Freddy with an 11th place start for race one.

As the first race of a brand new season got underway, a lack of power left Freddy fighting for ground. Despite the hindrance, the youngster managed to fight his way through to an ultimate eighth place finish, complete with the fifth fastest time.

Following an engine change, Sunday morning gave way to the second race of the weekend, as Freddy lined up in fifth place on the grid ready for another battle. A controlled launch saw Freddy head towards turn one, when a knock from a rival spun him to face incoming traffic. Unable to avoid Freddy, another rival hit his stricken car head on, causing yet more damage.

Despite lose bodywork from the impact, Freddy swiftly rejoined the race, and began to charge through from 22nd place. Regardless of his car's ailments, he climbed to a 10th place finish and second in the Junior Championship.

After round one, Freddy currently sits in sixth place overall and second in the Junior Championship. "It hasn't been the easiest start to the season, " said Freddy, "but considering what we faced over the weekend, to come out with two points finishes, sixth place in the overall standings and second in the Junior standings we can be pleased," he added.

Freddy now has a slight break in action, with the next round due to take place at his home circuit of Brands Hatch during 7-8th June.

"I'm looking forward to round two, it's my home circuit and a circuit that I know extremely well. Hopefully, that will stand me in good stead for some strong results."
