The Indy Lights rookie had a challenging qualifying session but still managed to secure an sixth place qualifying position in his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports (SPM) car.

The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver made another solid start to the race, moving up to P5 at the rolling start. Throughout the race, Harvey continued to push hard and when Alex Baron out-braked himself at turn nine in the closing stages of the race, Harvey was able to snatch fourth place. After 45 laps of racing, Harvey crossed the finish line in P4, taking a further 32 Championship points.

Long Beach Race Results:

1 Gabby Chaves

2 Zach Veach

3 Matthew Brabham

4 Jack Harvey

5 Luiz Razia

“It’s been a bit of a mixed weekend as fourth place is a good result (especially as we’re still third in the Championship) but we lacked the pace of the front-runners so it was tough to challenge for a podium finish. I’m looking forward to heading to Barber in a couple of week’s time. We tested there at the beginning of the year so it will be good to race at a track where I’ve already had some track time;” commented Jack Harvey

2014 Indy Lights Championship standings:

(1) Zach Veach 93 points

(2) Gabby Chaves 92 points

(3) Jack Harvey 67 points

(4) Luiz Razia 60 points

(5) Matthew Brabham 57 points

The next round of the Indy Lights series will take place at Barber Motorsports Park on April 26th and 27th.
