Van Deijne Secures Drive DMACK Fiesta Shoot-Out Nomination

Dutch driver Kevin van Deijne has become the first driver of the year to qualify for the 2014 Drive DMACK Fiesta Shoot-Out. Taming Rally de Portugal’s unforgiving stages, the 24-year-old finished ninth in class – the fastest driver outside of the one-make series to pilot a DMACK-shod Ford Fiesta R2.

Van Deijne embarked upon a career in rallying in 2010, securing success on home soil with six class victories in the Netherlands and Germany. In what was only his second outing in the FIA World Rally Championship, the result in Portugal saw the Dutchman rewarded with the first nomination for the Drive DMACK Fiesta Shoot-Out.

Van Deijne will compete against other promising drivers at the end of the year for the chance to win a one-off WRC drive in a Ford Fiesta R5 as part of Drive DMACK’s 2015 squad. The Shoot-Out will take place at M-Sport HQ at the end of the year, and van Deijne will be keen to make the most the opportunity as he looks to continue his development on the international rally scene.

M-Sport and DMACK created the Drive DMACK Fiesta Shoot-Out where competitors can take advantage of an affordable entry and tyre package at a subsidised rate. Drivers and teams are able to enter one or more of the five rounds of the Trophy in their own cars with their own team and compete alongside the championship regulars to judge their pace and gain vital experience.

Kevin van Deijne said: "Rally de Portugal was a very nice rally. I learned a lot and for me it was a good experience that can only make me faster. We went there with the goal of winning the Drive DMACK Fiesta Shoot-Out, and that is exactly what we did.

“M-Sport and DMACK have done an amazing job in organising this championship and the extra incentives for other Ford Fiesta R2 drivers like me. It's an amazing feeling to be nominated. I’ve wanted to drive the Fiesta R5 since I saw it debut in Ypres last year. For me, it is a dream to have the opportunity to drive this car at a WRC event one day, and we’ll be working hard to make that dream a reality.”
