F4 Driver Raoul Hyman Joins Young Racing Driver Academy

London-based racing driver Raoul Hyman (17) has been selected to join the prestigious Young Racing Driver Academy (YRDA) backed by the Arden Team and sports management consultancy The Business of Sport (TBOS) to support him in his 2014 F4 campaign. YRDA partners include the likes of Silverstone Circuit, Perform (part of the Spire Healthcare Group), natural sports nutrition drinks brand PWR+, Towergate Insurance, The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and F1 in Schools.

Raoul, born in Durban, South Africa, is racing for HHC Motorsport in the 2014 F4 Championship which launches at Silverstone this weekend ( 26 and 27 April). The Elthorne Park sixth-former was the Rookie of the Year in the British Super 1 Championship in 2011 and finished 3rd in very closely fought Super 1 Championship in 2012. Super 1 is the premier karting Championship in the UK. He graduated to F4 last season as a rookie, securing four podiums and multiple top ten finishes on his way to 7th place in the F4 Driver’s Championship, and is widely tipped to be a Championship contender in 2014. Having topped the times last week at the official F4 test at Snetterton, missing out on a clean sweep by only 0.006 seconds in the morning session, Raoul is hoping to launch his 2014 F4 campaign and association with the YRDA and Arden in style this weekend.

The YRDA is a motorsport academy that is focussed on identifying and developing young racing driver talent. It delivers a specialist programme for outstanding talent and also provides those individuals with tailored motorsport management support to encourage and assist a young racing driver in maximising his or her performance and potential.

Arden is one of the most successful teams involved in the feeder series to F1 and currently competes in the GP2, GP3 and Renault World Series Championships. The team was founded by Christian Horner (Team Principal of the Red Bull F1 Team) and his father Garry (Team Principal of Arden).

Raoul Hyman:
‘I am delighted to have been selected for the Young Racing Driver Academy and, whilst I know that I will benefit from every aspect of the programme, I am especially looking forward to experiencing Arden’s simulators which their current GP2 and GP3 drivers train on.”

Steve Hutchinson, Director of the Young Racing Driver Academy:
“We believe that Raoul possesses a very special talent and with the correct guidance believe he could go all the way. We are delighted that he is part of the Young Racing Driver Academy.”

Garry Horner, Team Principal of Arden:
“Arden are proud to support the Young Racing Driver Academy and we are looking forward to working with Raoul to develop his potential as a racing driver.”

Jamie Horner, CEO of The Business of Sport and Principal of 7 Legal:
“We are looking forward to working with Raoul and helping him to maximise his on and off track performance this season as he challenges for the F4 Driver Championship.”
