A Coastal Continuation For Grant's Motorsport Mission At Anglesey

George Grant will resume his journey to raise awareness for Mission Motorsport this weekend (April 26/27) when he travels to the Anglesey Circuit for round two of the MaX5 Racing championship.

Following their promising debut at Donington Park in March with Mazda’s Mk3 MX-5, Grant – and the official Armed Forces charity’s entire team led by Major James Cameron – will be back in action on the Welsh island’s International layout.

After racing to a respectable finishing position at Leicestershire’s former grand prix venue, the GGR Motorsport driver has been upholding the championship motto: Taking Fun Seriously by continuing to perfect his racecraft ahead of only a fifth competitive start.

“We enjoyed a successful test at Brands Hatch recently, which was extremely constructive,” said Grant. “Major Jim (Cameron) and former British Touring Car Championship driver David Brodie instructed me on how to improve various aspects of my driving – before England Rugby Union star Chris Ashton stopped by for some pointers – so overall it was a positive day’s work!

“We made several changes and adjusted the set-up increasingly to my liking, which has given me a much better feeling heading to Anglesey. Championship leader Jonathan Cryer has kindly given me some tips which I hope to put to good use on Saturday and Sunday.”

In keeping with Grant’s goal to highlight Mission Motorsport’s work in assisting ex-service personnel with rehabilitation and recovery, Development Manager John Earp will officially launch a ‘Race of Remembrance’ during the weekend.

Returning to Wales’ largest island in November to annually pay respect to the war dead, the commemoration will continue with an eight-hour endurance event on Remembrance Sunday, perfectly honouring memories of the fallen, both past and present.

Meanwhile Grant will want to ensure that Mission Motorsport’s positive outlook continues immediately by hitting the ground running this weekend.

“I’m immensely looking forward to getting back on track, especially as this circuit serves up some spectacular coastal views,” enthused Grant. “However, I’m still moving along a steep learning curve, so hopefully we can have another positive showing this weekend. With a lot of interest surrounding our programme, the atmosphere should be fantastic yet again.”

While continuing his personal motorsport journey, Grant will be eager to put his growing expertise to good use by carrying Mission Motorsport’s badge to new heights this weekend.
