Amongst them will be two brand new Chevron GT cars making their debuts as the 2014 GT Cup season gets underway. Race winner and the team’s star driver Jordan Witt will race the latest GT3 car with David Witt, owner of Chevron Cars Ltd, in the latest GT4 which was finished just this week at the company’s Crewe Headquarters.

Following a mixed 2013 season, the Chevron chassis have been revised and new power plants in the form of V8 Chevrolet units installed, which have proven reliable and powerful in testing. After all the tough winter development work, the new Chevron GT3, GT4 cars and engines are about to be put to the test in a race for the first time.

David Witt, team owner and driver said: “It has been a long winter of testing and development with the new Chevrons showing promise, however racing them for the first time is very different, anything can happen in the heat of battle. What we are looking for at Donington is simply to finish. The reality is we are going into a 36 car grid with two brand new cars and it’s going to be tough. We want to bring both cars home, anything after that is a bonus.

“We are excited about the 2014 GT Cup season because, just like our cars, the series has been revamped and revised and we have an amazing grid of cars. Chevron Cars has supported GT Cup over a significant period of time and has been a part of building the series up and now we can’t wait to get going!”

The first race of the 2014 GT Cup season roars in to action at 17:00 on Saturday 26 April. Race two kicks off at 14:00 on Sunday 27 April and the final race of the weekend commences at 17:45 that evening.

Notes to Editor:

Jordan Witt will drive the revised 2014 Chevron GT3 powered by the new engine variant for the team, the 440bhp Chevrolet LS3 V8. The car has an LLS Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox and Brembo brakes.

David Witt will start the 2014 season in the new GT4 specification Chevron. The difference in power from its Chevrolet LS3 V8 engine for the GT4 class is approximately 100bhp less at 340bhp. It retains the six-speed sequential gearbox, this time with a TNT Hewland box.

Both the new GT3 and GT4 Chevron chassis are now certified to 1500kg crush weight to comply with MSA regulations. Both chassis are tubular construction with alloy panels and distinctive Chevron body work.
