Round three of the 2014 Indycar season kicks off today with the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The circuit is a 17-turn, 2.38-mile road course. The winner driver will take the checkers after completing 90 laps/214.2 miles.

This is the fifth IndyCar race at the track which debuted in 2010 with Helio Castroneves taking the victory by a half second over Scott Dixon.

Penske driver Will Power took his first Pole of the 2014 season with a lap of 1:07.0871 (which was over one full second slower than last year's record) and is looking for his second win of the season after winning at St. Petersburg.

Pole sitters have won twice in four tries at Barber Park.

Also starting on the front row will be James Hinchcliffe and his No. 27 prepared by Andretti Autosport. Hinchcliffe is looking for his first top-ten result after finishing 19th at St. Petersburg, and 21st at Long Beach.

Ryan Hunter-Reay will start third with Josef Newgarden filling out row two.

In 2011 and 2010 the IndyCar series only had three winners (each season) from outside the top-four starting positions. However in 2012, that all changed with the new Dallara and engine competition with 10 of 15 winners starting 5th or worse and in 2013 eight of 19 races were won from fifth or worse.

So today's race victory could go to anyone, IndyCar has become a crap shoot.

As for today's winner, we are going to go with.... Will Power. This is a race which can and should be won from Pole.

Should Power fail, we'd say keep on eye Ryan Hunter-Reay whose mistake at Long Beach cost him the win.

Enjoy today's race, and look for the wheels of fate to keep it interesting. The 2014 IndyCar season is off to a solid start and should be a thrilling battle for the championship.
