2014 NHRA: Houston Win By Hight Puts TV In Fan’s Hands

2014 NHRA: Houston Win By Hight Puts TV In Fan’s Hands

Robert Hight drove his Auto Club Ford Mustang back into the Winner’s Circle for the second consecutive race of the season at Royal Purple Raceway’s during the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals. The Mello Yello points leader defeated Bob Tasca III, Alexis DeJoria and Del Worsham before outrunning Jack Beckman in the final. With this win, Hight also put a 55” flat screen TV in the hands of Sherry Mely of Denham Springs, Louisiana, compliments of BrandSource and the “Win with Force” promotion. This was the thirteenth final round in a row for John Force Racing going back to 2013.

Hight qualified in the No. 4 spot this weekend with a solid 4.073 ET in Saturday’s first qualifying session. On Friday Hight’s Auto Club Ford Mustang did not run quick enough to carry a qualifying time over to Saturday. This was Hight’s third victory of 2014 and his fifth consecutive final round appearance this season. This is the fourth TV JFR has given away in 2014 in only six races.

“It was like we didn’t even show up on Friday,” Hight said. “It was horrible. On the first run it got through the clutch and wore it out and eventually smoked the tires. Second qualifying session we just totally missed it. It was weak and shook, but I didn’t lose faith in my team.”

“They showed confidence and had the ‘We’ll go get ‘em Saturday.’ attitude. We went out there and ran 4.07, 4.08 on Saturday to put us in the No. 4 spot,” said Hight. “Then the first three rounds today ran 4.07, 4.07, and 4.07. You know how hard that is to do in one of these cars? There are so many variables. It’s hard to make that many consistent runs in a row, but it shows how good my team is. They’re making just tiny changes, and at the last minute. They never act like there is a fire drill or anything is out of the ordinary, they just put their heads down and do their job. It’s a lot of fun right now.”

At each NHRA national event when a JFR team qualifies No. 1 a lucky fan that has signed up at the JFR “Win with Force” display located in Nitro Alley will be eligible to win the BrandSource No. 1 Qualifier Award, a front loading washer and dryer set. If a JFR driver wins the event a different fan will win the 55” flat screen TV Winner’s Circle Award from BrandSource. At the end of the season a grand prize winner of the “Win with Force” Sweepstakes will be awarded a 2014 Ford Escape S-Series.

Thanks to a winning season by John Force Racing in 2013, BrandSource gave away eight flat-screen televisions and nine washers & dryers to lucky fans. More than 24,000 race fans registered to win prizes at the “Win with Force” display in NHRA’s Nitro Alley. Another 91,000 fans signed up online at BrandSource.com.

Fans can sign up to win at the John Force Racing interactive midway display or at thousands of BrandSource stores across the country. The 53-foot trailer display will be in the Nitro Alley area of every NHRA Mello Yello Series national event in 2014. The “Win with Force” promotion now includes JFR team partners Castrol, BrandSource, Ford, Traxxas and Mac Tools, all joining together to create an incredible promotion for the fans.
