Justin Boston Fights Back to Finish 15th at Salem Speedway

Justin Boston and the No. 25 ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling Centers - JACO Environmental Toyota Camry finished 15th at Salem (Ind.) Speedway on Sunday afternoon. The Baltimore, Md., driver had to overcome alternator issues late in the race in order to come home with a top-15 finish in the Federated Auto Parts 200 presented by Crunch 'N Nutter at the .555-mile track. The ARCA Racing Series made its first of two annual stops at the southern Indiana speedway, and immediately got to work with two practice sessions to prepare for Sunday's 200-lap event. Boston topped the charts in the final ARCA Racing Series practice session at Salem on Saturday. Later in the day, the driver of the No. 25 ZLOOP Computer and Electronic Recycling Centers - JACO Environmental Toyota Camry turned a lap of 17.405 seconds at 114.795 mph during qualifying to secure the top starting position.

After starting from the pole, and while working his way through heavy lapped traffic, Boston found himself battling for the lead in the first 80 laps. He settled in to his rhythm in the second position before pitting for the first time on Lap 80 under caution for two right-side tires, fuel and a round of adjustments. Boston restarted the race on Lap 86 from the second spot. He maintained his position in the top five as the Venturini Motorsports team opted to stay on track following the Lap 89 caution. Boston restarted the race fifth on Lap 99, when he was dealing with the No. 25 machine jumping gears. Boston was scored in seventh on Lap 127 before he was called to pit road for a second stop for four tires and fuel, but returned to pit road the next following lap for a windshield tear-off, wedge adjustment, and the creative use of a bungee cord around the shifter so the No. 25 Toyota would remain in gear. However, issues continued to plague the 24-year old driver when Boston, in eighth-place, lost battery voltage on the restart. As soon as Boston reached his pit stall, the problem was easily determined - a problematic alternator had drained his battery. The Kevin Reed-led pit crew changed the battery on pit road, and when Boston returned to the track on Lap 172, he was scored in 16th-place. He maneuvered through the field, moving up to 15th by the sixth caution of the day on Lap 192, and with the race extending to 202 laps following a green-white-checker finish, Boston crossed the finish line to finish 15th at Salem Speedway.

Justin Boston Quote:

"It's unfortunate our luck has been so bad this year, because we have had a fast ZLOOP - JACO Camry each week with nothing to show for it. It's really frustrating when things like this happen, where they are totally out of your control.

"My focus is going to win as many races as possible and let everything else take care of itself. I'm not really in a position to be worried about points anymore. If we just go do our jobs and get to the end of these races, the wins will be there for us."
