2014 Talladega: Ryan ReedNASCAR Nationwide Race Preview

· Reed at Talladega Superspeedway

o Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) rookie Ryan Reed visits the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway for the first time in his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) career. Reed’s first NNS restrictor plate start came in the 2014 season opener at Daytona International Speedway, where the 20-year-old driver finished 18th.

o In 2012, Reed made an ARCA Racing Series start at Talladega Superspeedway, qualifying 11th and finishing 13th.

· The Car

o Chassis RK-794 returns to a restrictor plate track for the second time this season. This is the same chassis that was involved in a qualifying accident earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway. The team was forced to backup chassis RK-718. That chassis again serves as the backup car.

· Visit the American Diabetes Association’s Drive to Stop DiabetesSM Midway Display

o Drive to Stop DiabetesSM (D2SD) will host an activation space in the fan midway at Talladega Superspeedway. The display area features the No. 16 D2SD racing simulator, diabetes awareness and educational materials as well as various prizes.

o Reed will appear for a Q&A at the Drive to Stop DiabetesSM display on Saturday, May 3 from 10:45 – 11:00 a.m. CT.

· Recapping Richmond

o Reed one-upped his best finish of the season, running a solid race last Friday night at Richmond International Raceway. Reed remained patient and avoided trouble, bringing his No. 16 Ford Mustang home in 12th.

Reed on racing at Talladega Superspeedway:

“I ran an ARCA race at Talladega back in 2012, so hopefully some of that will translate. I’m looking forward to getting back on a restrictor place track since we had a great car in Daytona. Hopefully, we can have another solid restrictor plate run, minus the post-race incident.”
