Enfinger Shooting For Record ARCA Win At Talladega In Int'l Motorsports Hall Of Fame 200

Just like butter, Grant Enfinger's on a roll. And if he can keep it going at Talladega Superspeedway, the Fairhope, Alabama favorite will roll right into the ARCA history books.

Enfinger has won the first three events of the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season at Daytona, Mobile and last weekend at Salem, becoming the first driver since 1970 to win the first three races of any calendar year. If he can win the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 at Talladega Saturday, May 3, he'll be the first driver in ARCA history (62 years) to win the first four races of the year.

"It would be huge (winning at Talladega)," Enfinger said.

"Other than that one full season with the Allgaier's in 2011, I don't think I've ever run four ARCA races in a row, let alone win them all.

"To be able to make a statement like this would be huge, not only for myself being an Alabama guy, but for Team BCR. Howard and Paula Bixman (team owners) are working so hard to give us what we need to win everywhere we go. I'm so proud of this team, the way they've all stepped up. I can't say enough for our sponsors Casite, Motor Honey and Advance for letting me live out my dreams."

Enfinger, who admittedly has never run well at Salem, overcame an ill-handling car in practice to qualify second and go on to win the race last Sunday after leading 106 laps of 202.

"We were not very good out of the trailer," he said. "We cut our first practice short and kind of had to just sit back and re-group and give us a chance to think about it. My crew chief Kelly Kovski had a list of changes and I had a list of changes. It just came together. I was shocked at how well we qualified."

Enfinger, after leading the first 104 laps, moved back to the front late in the race and took the lead when race leader Ken Schrader hit the wall in turn one on the last restart with two laps remaining.

"I wanted the chance to drag race him to the finish," Enfinger said. "I think his right front tire went down. That's what happened. It was a lot of fun racing up front against him. But I would have liked to have seen what would have happened if his tire would have stayed up and raced to the checkered (flag)."

So now it's onto Talladega where the variables can out-run the good luck it takes to win anywhere.

"Talladega's a crapshoot, more than anywhere we go. There are just way too many variables at Talladega. Our job is to put ourselves in the right place to make it happen one more time."

Enfinger, unlike the last two races on tour, will have a Team BCR teammate to work with at Talladega - Justin Allison in the HAVACOSales.com Ford. Allison is the grandson of Hueytown, Alabama NASCAR legend Donnie Allison.

"Having Justin as a teammate can definitely help. But you've also got to get in position at the right time to get the help. If you get a car in between us, it doesn't matter if you have a teammate. I hope it works out so we can work together. It definitely helps."

Enfinger is taking the same car to Talladega that he won in at Daytona.

"I feel like we can take our same Daytona strategy to Talladega...the same set-up, but we can't necessarily get around all those Talladega variables. So much has to come together to win there - the right driver working with you, the right car, the right set-up, being in the right place at the right time, staying out of trouble; how many do you want? We're going there with a lot of effort I can tell you that."
Clearly, Enfinger's Team BCR is not lacking in the 'effort' category.

"We've got some real good things going. We've had three really good racecars to start the year...with the right amount of luck to win.

"We've always had a lot of hard work and preparation that goes into our effort. We're not really doing anything different in that regard. I think the biggest thing was winning our first race last year; it brought a huge sense of relief. Now we can focus more and make better decisions with the 'monkey' off our backs.

"You just never know what's going to happen at Talladega though. But, we have a great plate program and I know we'll be fast."

Enfinger's career-best ARCA finish at Talladega is third in 2009, which came in his Talladega debut.
Last year, Enfinger left Talladega disappointed. After leading four laps, Enfinger was involved in an incident with another car, sending him back to 16th. The race was then shortened due to rain, and the team was unable to make up the spots lost.

The International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 is part of the Aaron's Dream Weekend (May 2-4), featuring a quadruple header like no other on Saturday.

The much anticipated Saturday will not only include the always action-packed Aaron's 312 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, but also ARCA's International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200, which in years past was held on Friday of the Aaron's Dream Weekend. In addition, a new kind of race will emerge - NASCAR's new and exciting Sprint Cup Series qualifying format - and the popular Saturday Night Infield Concert in the track's iconic infield.

Fans have the option to purchase a special 2-day ticket package for Saturday's events and Sunday's Aaron's 499. In designated areas of the Gadsden and Talladega grandstands, the regular price for a 2-day ticket is $50, with kids 12 and under getting in free.

Marketing Partners: Team BCR and Enfinger will welcome MCG Contracting as an Associate Marketing Partner on the No. 90 Ford Fusion at Talladega. MCG Contracting Group has provided quality personnel to the marine and industrial construction industries since 2004. The contracting group is located in Mobile, Ala., where they effectively provide the most qualified and professional employees nationwide. Motor Honey/Casite and Advance Auto Parts will serve as the Primary Marketing Partners along with Associate Marketing Partners, Triple K Construction, Wurth USA and Stanley Industries.

Meet Grant Enfinger: Grant Enfinger and his teammate Justin Allison will attend the Race Fever event on Friday, May 2 at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. The event benefits the Alabama Institute of the Deaf and Blind. At 5:00 p.m., Enfinger and Allison will do an on-stage interview with MRN's Steve Post, and then will sign autographs for the children of the institute, as well as other attendees. A silent auction will also take place during the annual event.

Team Manager, Howard Bixman:
"Talladega is going to be much different this time around. With three consecutive wins, we have been working hard to keep the momentum we currently have this season. ARCA has changed the qualifying procedures. Instead of going out for a single car run, we'll be going out in groups based on practice times. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Either way, we plan on bringing an even better car than what we had at Daytona."

Tune into the Race: The International Motorsport Hall of Fame 200 is live on FOX Sports 1 at 11 a.m. ET Saturday, May 3. ARCAracing.com will feature live timing and scoring of all on-track activities, Friday and Saturday.
