Over $350,000 For CTCC Competitors in 2014

The 2014 edition of the Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire is gearing up to be the most financially rewarding season for the competitors in the eight year history of the series.

Through contributions from a variety of manufacturers and series supporters, both drivers and teams in CTCC will have over $350,000 in cash and contingency awards available to them this year.

“We’re very lucky, and extremely grateful, to have our partners investing in the teams, and supporting the hard work that everyone puts in to make the racing a success,” comments CTCC founder John Bondar. “And the teams definitely appreciate the support!”

This year, Honda, MINI, Mazda and Scion have each invested considerably in their respective CTCC entrants.

For participants racing a Honda, in addition to parts contingency dollars, all podium finishers will be rewarded with cash prizes of up to $2,500 in every race. Honda HPD will also provide a yearend cash bonus to any champion who has driven one of their models to the class title.

MINI Canada has stepped up again this year and will be offering up to $1,000 for a race winning driver, while Scion has a similar program, providing a cash prize not only to race winners, but also to race participants.

Mazda’s prize package is also heavily rewarding, as they will present a cash payout of up to $1,500 to podium finishers. Additionally, Mazda is offering a staggering cash bonus up to $10,000 for a class-winning effort, along with the opportunity to take part in the Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout where the grand prize is valued at over $75,000 US.

From the product side of the CTCC contingency program, DBA (Disc Brakes-Australia) has broadened its range this year and will provide a pair of brake rotors every weekend to one of the finishers in the Touring class.

But undoubtedly, the most noteworthy contribution will come from Continental Tire.

The Team Continental Program is a partnership between the tire manufacturer and CTCC and offers program participants a wide range of benefits.

Free, and discounted prices, on race tires is one attractive bonus of the program, as is an appreciable discount of race registration fees.

“But the highlight of the Team Continental Program is that everyone participating will be eligible to take part in a VIP draw at most race weekends,” explained Bondar.

The Team Continental VIP package provides the winning team with the opportunity to bring sponsors and guests to CTCC events where they will be treated to a catered, private hospitality suite. The Grand Prize, to be drawn at the yearend Gala of Champions, will see the winners provided with a VIP trip for two, with accommodations, to the 2015 Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona event.

Concluded Bondar, “This year is definitely our richest to date. And I believe that the support we’ve received from our series partners recognizes the dedicated efforts from all of our teams, as well as acknowledging and certifying our position in the national Canadian racing scene. And for that, we thank them.”
