The 10-Day Blockbuster of Racing, highlighted by the 30th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and the 55th running of the Coca-Cola 600, will generate an estimated economic impact of $230 million to the Charlotte region this May and support 4,200 jobs, part of a $6 billion annual economic impact by motorsports statewide.

“Right now, we’re at the site of some of the greatest sports entertainment in the world,” McCrory said. “Not only is it the site of some great entertainment for travel and tourism, but we’re creating over 4,200 jobs from the motorsports industry. Jobs are coming back to North Carolina, and motorsports and tourism is leading the way. Travel and tourism, job creation and great entertainment, right here at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”

The governor was joined by Speedway Motorsports, Inc. Chairman Bruton Smith, Charlotte Motor Speedway President and General Manager Marcus Smith, Richard Petty Motorsports owner and NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Marcos Ambrose, as well as several mayors from across the region, state political representatives and members of the governor’s motorsports advisory council.

“This is the home place of racing, as far as Cup racing is concerned. Bruton came out here in 1960 and built this place and we’ve been running ever since,” said Petty. “It’s a big, big deal for racers. It’s a big pride deal for all the teams because all the teams are around here. From a spectator standpoint, they’ve got a little bit of everything. They’ve got short track running. They’ve got dirt track running. They’ve got the big track running. They’ve got Nationwide and trucks. Over the two weeks, it’s nothing but race, race, race.”

With weekend packages starting at just $99, fans can experience all the action and excitement that surrounds the NASCAR Sprint All-Star and Coca-Cola 600 race weekends at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“This is the 55th running of the Coca-Cola 600, the 30th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race,” Marcus Smith said. “One of the things I’m reminded of at every event is that we bring people from all over the world right here to Charlotte, the heart of NASCAR country. We look forward to seeing everybody here for the big 10 days of May.”

The $99 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race weekend pass includes frontstretch tickets for the N.C. Education Lottery Camping World Truck Series race and Sprint Showdown on Friday, May 16; plus the no-speed-limit NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race qualifying, Jake Owen and Train concerts, plus the blockbuster shootout for $1 million at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 17.

The $99 Coca-Cola 600 weekend package includes tickets to see the stars of NASCAR hit the track to lay down the fastest lap during LiftMaster Pole Night on Thursday, May 22; a Saturday afternoon showdown as the NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers battle it out in the HISTORY 300 on May 24; and culminates with the historic 55th running of one of NASCAR's most prestigious events, the Cola-Cola 600, complete with a Brantley Gilbert pre-race concert on Sunday, May 25.
