RSR Racing Heads to the West Coast for Round 3 of the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship

The RSR Racing foursome of; Bruno Junqueira, Duncan Ende, Alex Tagliani and Chris Cumming head to California and the scenic twists and turns of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix on May 4th. RSR aims to continue the performance shown in the season's first and longest two events at Daytona International Speedway and Sebring International Raceway in the third round for the Prototype Challenge class as part of the 2014 TUDOR United Sports Car Championship.

Coming off the success of a second place podium finish at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours at Sebring, Junqueira and Ende look to land atop the podium at the 2.238-mile track for their first victory of 2014. The 09 LinospressoUSA.com ORECA FLM-09 powered by the Chevrolet LS3 finished on the podium in 2012 and was battling for the victory in 2013.

After recycling the remains of a destroyed 08 AutoMaxUSA.com ORECA FLM-09 from the devastating collision at Sebring, Tagliani and Cumming want to shake the bad luck and rocket to the top step of the podium with their new chassis. The performance of the duo in the first two rounds of the season proves the Canadians belong in victory circle.

Junqueira and Tagliani have a collection of podium finishes at the picturesque track in the hills of Monterey. Including the 2012 PC class second place finish with RSR, the Brazilian driver also claimed back-to-back Champcar podium finishes in 2003 and 2004. Tagliani drove a Daytona Prototype car to a third place finish in 2012.

The team is no stranger to victory at the celebrated sports car racing track. Team principal, Paul Gentilozzi earned the victory on September 11, 2004 that produced the closest points battle in Trans-Am Series history by tying teammate Tommy Kendall. Gentilozzi was crowned with his fourth of five Driver's Championship by breaking the tie with most race wins that year.

IMSA is splitting the fields for May 4th event with the Prototype Challenge cars and the GTD cars kicking off the day with a 2-hours sprint race with live coverage on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00pm Eastern Time. Follow TUDOR USCC on Twitter @unitedsportscar.

Driver Quotes

Bruno Junqueira
"I love Laguna Seca, it is a one of a kind race track. The many elevation changes make the corners very fun to drive. I have a pole position and three times I have finished second. After finishing P2 in Sebring, I am going for a win this year."

Duncan Ende
"I had the opportunity to race at Laguna Seca a lot when I started racing, so even if it was not in my home state it would still feel like a home race to me. The track is huge fun in a PC car with the abundance of fast corners, and it should be nice to only have our own class and GTD to worry about while we are out there.

"Bruno and I had a really strong run here last year and would have been fighting for the win if not for being caught in somebody else's accident, so I'm eager to try to take care of our unfinished business."

Alex Tagliani
"Chris and I are excited for the first sprint race of the season and the races coming up in the next few months that will turn our season around. Last time I was at Laguna Seca I finished on the podium in a prototype car. I have been quick there in all types of cars and I feel comfortable on the track. I'm ready to get back to the track and put our RSR car up front.

"I have to take my hat off to the whole group at the shop. The car was wrecked after Sebring and they worked really hard for us to go racing again. I am sure it was not fun. We all want to win and the team puts in a great effort to give us the right equipment to go for the victories."

Chris Cumming
"I'm always excited to race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The smooth track surface and high-speed corners really suit the PC car. I can't wait to get some momentum going as we get the busy part of our season under way."
