The young German rider immediately got up to speed and finished the first free practice period in 14th with a best time of 1.44.105 around the twisting 4423metre track. He tirelessly continued his confident streak into FP2 to finish 9th and only half a second behind the leading bike. Schrotter, like many other riders, was not able to improve on his FP1 time due to high track temperatures of 53°, in what was otherwise a productive opening day to the fourth round of the 2014 Moto2 World Championship for the Tech3 Racing Team. Tomorrow the 20 year old German will aim to qualify strongly in hope of improving on his personal best results of 9th which he scored in Texas

Ricky Cardus began the opening day of practice at the Jerez Grand Prix by finishing in 15th position in the combined times, but only a mere two tenths of a second behind his teammate, The young Spanish rider finished 19th during the morning free practice period but proceeded to reduce his best lap time by one tenth in the afternoon session. His time was within one second of the leading Moto2 bike as he prepares for Sunday’s 25-lap race aboard the Mistral 610.

Marcel Schrotter : 14th : 1.44.255Marcel Schrotter - Jerez 2014

“I came to Jerez and I expected the competition to be really fierce, but in all honesty, I am positively suprised by how quickly i got up to speed here. It is not a track where I have had lots of successful moments, and furthermore, the testing is always very competitive here. Anyway, at the moment we are doing a very good job. There are a few minor issues that we are struggling with, but i'm confident that we will solve them tomorrow. For tonight, I am happy with the results, and hope we will now have a good start tomorrow and a strong base to work from to go even faster in Qualifying.“

Ricky Cardus : 19th : 1.44.292Ricky Cardus - Jerez 2014

“I am quite pleased with how the first day of practice went in Jerez, but I know I can improve and be closer to the front. I stayed within seven tenths of a second from the leading bike, which I feel was key for me, and shows how close it is. This circuit is one of the more difficult tracks in the world championship in my opinion, due to it being physically demanding. I have had a slightly lesser amount of time here with testing, but i now need to increase my speed, and am determined to qualify well so that I can score a positive result.”
