Park Place Motorsports Heads To Home Race In Search Of Results

Following a difficult first two rounds of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, Park Place Motorsports will head to this weekend’s Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix powered by Mazda in search of renewed fortune for their 2014 campaign. As the closest circuit to their Santa Barbara-based race shop, the team always looks forward to their home race, especially after a six-week break from the racing action.

"I've enjoyed the time away from the track to catch up on life and my day job,” stated Patrick Lindsey, driver of the No. 73 Porsche 911 GT America. “I'm definitely anxious to climb back into the Porsche and rip around one of my favorite tracks in North America. For me, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Road America, and the new Circuit of the Americas are my favorite places to race. It definitely has a lot to do with the surrounding areas providing fun, food, and scenery when we are away from the track. Laguna is a fairly short circuit, but is extremely challenging; the elevation changes and wild downhill run back to start/finish create some of the toughest corners we see all year. It will be an exciting race and one we plan on showing very well at for our CTF NF Heroes, Park Place, and Hawk Performance."

"We received an air inlet restriction since Sebring, but I don't see that as a big challenge at a place like Laguna where it's all about handling and making the most out of the low grip surface," continued Lindsay. "I am definitely a little worried about how strong the Audis may be this weekend. They've finished a recent test at Laguna and I feel that the track favors their car more than any other in the field."

While the first two rounds of the all-new championship has seen the team out of the top-10 due to a series of complications, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has always provided a good showing for the team. During the 2013 round, the team qualified in the top-five of the Rolex GT category and threatened to lead much of the race, preceded in 2012 by qualifying on the front row.

Practice will take place tomorrow, May 3, with the race occurring on Sunday, May 4, at 1PM ET. Due to pit capacity, the series will actually split their four classes into two separate races, with Park Place’s GTD category competing with the Prototype Challenge (PC) category during the two-hour race. Coverage can be found live on Fox Sports 1.
