Alabama's Grant Enfinger Earns ARCA Pole At Talladega For Saturday's Int'L Motorsports Hall Of Fame 200

How much better could things get for Grant Enfinger? The Fairhope, Ala. native won the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell Friday afternoon at Talladega Superspeedway, putting another feather in the cap of a season that already has been record-setting.

Enfinger turned his lap at 183.649 mph during a group qualifying session at Talladega and will start on the pole position for Saturday's International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200. The race will be live on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00 a.m. local Central time.

"It's been an incredible year for everyone at Team BCR," Enfinger said. "The guys at the shop are what makes you sit on the pole at a superspeedway race. I'm really, really blessed to drive this fast Ford Fusion."

Enfinger will be behind the wheel of the No. 90 Motor Honey-Advance Auto Parts Ford. Another Ford will join him up front. Mason Mitchell, in the No. 98 Thermal Technology Services Ford, will start second. He and Enfinger worked together throughout the qualifying session. It's Enfinger's second ARCA Racing Series pole.

Enfinger already has won the first three races of the 2014 year, becoming just the second driver in the 62-year history of the ARCA Racing Series to do so. Saturday, he'll try and become the first driver in series history to win the first four races of the year.

"I'll let other people worry about that," Enfinger said. "Anything can happen at Talladega and it usually does."

Justin Boston will start third in the Venturini Motorsports No. 25 ZLOOP Toyota with Mark Thompson fourth in the No. 4 Phoenix Air Chevrolet. John Wes Townley, in the Zaxby's Toyota, used a late lap push in the third group to rocket into the fifth spot in the qualifying order. He was 17th in practice. A third Venturini Motorsports car, the No. 55 Blackfish Toyota with Leilani Munter in the seat, will start eighth.

Will Kimmel, fastest in Friday's two-hour practice session, will start sixth after his qualifying lap in the Ingersoll Rand-Messinas-Circle Track Ford. Tom Hessert, in the Cunningham Motorsports Caregard-AxiomWarranty.com Dodge, will start seventh.

Clay Campbell and SCOTT Rookie Challenge competitor Austin Wayne Self round out the top 10.

Ten-time series champion and defending ARCA Racing Series winner at Talladega, Frank Kimmel, will start 22nd in the No. 44 Win-Tron Racing Ansell-Menards Toyota.

Enfinger was thrilled to be on the pole for a race in his home state.

"I will have a home-town crowd here," he said. "Family and friends I went to high school with can drive here and see the race. I'm just truly blessed."
