2014 Talladega: TriStar Motorsports NASCAR Nationwide Race Recap

The NASCAR Nationwide Series weekend at Talladega Superspeedway is complete and what an exciting weekend it was. It was a horsepower filled weekend with both the Aarons 312 and the Kentucky Derby running on the same day! TriStar Motorsports race results below:

David Starr Finishes 9th at Talladega Superspeedway

David Starr and the No. 44 Steely Lumber Co. Camry finished the Aarons 312 ninth. Starr battled his way from his 16th place starting position, to eventually leading the race under green flag conditions. The green flag waved with 15 laps to go and right after we took the green flag the spotter came on the radio and said, "New Leader 44!" Coming to 9 laps to go, Starr was leading the field to the green flag. When the red flag was shown with 5 laps to go, Starr was scored in 5th. Unfortunately, we did not have a drafting partner when the green flag waved and we lost the draft with the top 5 cars and finished ninth.

Mike Bliss Finishes 12th at Talladega Superspeedway

Mike Bliss and the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Toyota Camry qualified 19th for the Aarons 312 and finished the race 12th. Bliss worked his way through the field in the first 50 laps, and when the caution flag came out with less than 60 laps to go, the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports driver and crew decided to come to pit road for two tires and fuel. Bliss restarted in the top 10. When the caution came out for a spin, Bliss pitted for fuel only and restarted 11th. 20 laps to go, Bliss was running ninth and within 3 laps he had worked his way up to sixth. Without a drafting partner on the last restart, Bliss lost the draft and brought home a 12th place finish.

Eric McClure Finishes 17th at Talladega Superspeedway

Eric McClure and the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry qualified 18th for Saturday's race at Talladega Superspeedway. Early into the race, McClure came on the radio saying that his Camry was running a little warm, but that his car wasn't pushing water. 10 laps into the Aarons 312, McClure was scored in 35th. McClure brought his car to pit road for an early pit stop to diagnose the issue. After 75 laps complete, the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Camry was scored in 21st. With three laps to go, McClure was running 19th and crossed the start/finish line 17th when the checker flag waved.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series has an off weekend this weekend and will return to racing on May 18th at Iowa Speedway for the Get to Know Newton 250.
