FIA Formula 3 European Championship

"From zero to hero": Verstappen wins in Hockenheim

Max Verstappen (NL) gifted Volkswagen their second victory of the season in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. After being unlucky in two races on the Hockenheimring, the son of the former Formula 1 racing driver Jos Verstappen celebrated a convincing start-finish victory in the third and final race, winning his first ever race in the Formula 3 European Championship. Despite retiring on the first lap of the third race at the second round of the season, Tom Blomqvist (GB) defended his status as the best-placed "powered by Volkswagen" driver with 67 championship points. Also on the winners’ podium for Volkswagen: Antonio Giovinazzi (I), Edward Jones (UAE) and Jordan King (GB).

British Formula 3 Championship

Powell finishes on the podium at season opener

Alice Powell (GB) celebrated a podium place at the season opener of the British Formula 3 Championship in Rockingham (GB). In the first of two races, the 21-year-old racing driver from Oxford narrowly missed out on the podium when she finished fourth. However, the second race proved more successful for Powell, who races for the Carlin team in a Dallara-Volkswagen, and she finished in third. Her team-mate Li Zhi Cong, however, was not so lucky: In the first race the man from China retired after a collision, in the second race he finished seventh. Victory in both races went to Sam MacLeod.

British Touring Car Championship

Two seventh places for Menu and Smith in Thruxton

At the third round of the British Touring Car Championship in Thruxton (GB), Volkswagen driver Alain Menu (CH) finished seventh in the first of a total of three races. Also in a privateer Volkswagen CC, team-mate Árón Smith (IRL) finished in seventh place in the third race. Andrew Jordan secured victory in the first race, while Nick Foster won race two. Local hero Colin Turkington finished first in the third race.

Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup

Pepper wins twice, Fahnauer in second and third

Favourite Jordan Lee Pepper celebrated a double victory after a convincing performance at the first weekend of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup season. The 17-year-old won the first race on the Hockenheimring ahead of Sweden's Victor Bouveng. In the second race on Sunday afternoon, the South African was victorious in glorious sunshine, finishing almost 1.2 seconds ahead of Germany’s Manuel Fahnauer. Victory in the Junior classification went to Denmark's Nicolaj Møller Madsen. Guest starter Pierre Casiraghi (MC) delighted spectators with a strong performance: After finishing 22 in the first race, Princess Caroline of Hanover’s son improved in the second round to finish in position 20.

Engen Volkswagen Cup

Van der Linde wins and makes history

Sheldon van der Linde (ZA) made history with his victory at the third round of the season in the Engen Volkswagen Cup in Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Winning race two on the Aldo Scribante Raceway made the 14-year-old South African, younger brother of Scirocco R-Cup Champion Kelvin van der Linde, the youngest driver to win in the history of touring car racing in South Africa. Van der Linde’s team-mate at Ferodo Racing, Daniel Rowe (ZA), won in the first race and finished third in race two, which saw him increase his lead in the overall standings.

Volkswagen Racing Cup

Mason wins in Rockingham

Aaron Mason (GB), who leads the championship in the Volkswagen Racing Cup, won the first race at the Rockingham Motor Speedway. The Brit celebrated a start-finish victory, Joe Fulbrook (GB) finished second, Stefan di Resta (GB), brother of DTM driver Paul di Resta, and James Greenway (GB) completed the top four. Greenway asserted himself in the second race on Monday afternoon after David Sutton (GB), who led until halfway through the race, dropped back slightly. Sutton ultimately finished third, behind Tom Barley (GB).

Volkswagen Polo-Cup Russia Ignatov unbeatable in the "Pushkin hills"

Second round and second victory for Alexey Ignatov: The Russian and his co-driver Alina Kondratyeva (RUS) were at ease as they dominated the Rally Pushkin Hills. Right from the outset of the first gravel event of the season, the duo refused to give their competitors a chance on the six special stages covering 81 kilometres. Vadim Lelukh (RUS) was second to cross the line and Mikhail Krivospickiy (RUS) finished third. A total of twelve of the 13 participants who started the second event of the Volkswagen Polo-Cup Russia made it to the finish line.

Formula Volkswagen South Africa Robert Wolk dominates the race weekend in Port Elizabeth

The current Formula Volkswagen Champion Robert Wolk was once again the dominating man of the weekend in Port Elizabeth (ZA): Wolk won both races, starting from pole position in each, on the Aldo Scribante Raceway.
