2014 Kansas: Timothy Peters NASCAR Truck Race Preview

This Week's Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra at Kansas Speedway... Timothy Peters will pilot chassis No. 017 in the SFP 250 this Friday at Kansas Speedway. This 2014 Toyota Tundra is brand new to the Red Horse Racing stable and was built specifically for the mile and a half race tracks.

Peters Leading the Points... Peters heads to Kansas Speedway as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship points leader after two successful campaigns to kick-off his 2014 season. His second-place result in the first race of the season at Daytona International Speedway was the closest NCWTS finish in series' history at the Daytona Beach, Florida race track with a 0.017 second interval between the two trucks. Peters followed that up with another top-10 finish, coming home sixth at Martinsville Speedway, his hometown track.

History at Kansas Speedway... Peters has six previous NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Kansas Speedway, where he has an average starting position of 11.7 and an average finishing position of 15.3. He's earned one top-five and two top-10 finishes at the Kansas City race track, and last season earned a 10th-place result after starting 18th.

Race Rewind: Martinsville Speedway... Peters returned to his hometown track of Martinsville Speedway for the second race of the 2014 season ready to take home the checkered flag. The hometown favorite felt confident returning to a race track where he has found much success. Peters and the No. 7 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra team started the rain-delayed Kroger 250 from the third position and remained a fixture near the front of the field until the final restart, when he was shuffled back to finish sixth.

No Break for Peters... Although the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series last raced in March, Peters hasn't been sitting around idly. On top of testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway with his Red Horse Racing teammates, he also competed for the first time in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, a charity race held at South Boston Speedway. The No. 17 Autos by Nelson Toyota Camry that Peters drove for the race was specifically designed by his crew chief, Marcus Richmond, for short track racing. The duo won the track championship at South Boston Speedway in 2004, and multiple races at the South Boston, Virginia race track since then. Although they didn't take the checkered flag in the showdown, they were both glad to take part in an event that helps such a great cause.

TIMOTHY PETERS QUOTES:
On testing at Charlotte Motor Speedway... "Kansas Speedway is the first mile and a half race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season, so we tested at Charlotte (Motor Speedway) and really worked on our downforce program. I'm very optimistic. We've got a fast No. 17 Toyota Tundra for Kansas and I'm looking forward to getting back out on the track."

On the 2014 season so far... "I know we're only two races in but I definitely feel like we have a shot at winning the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Championship this season. We've worked really hard as a team, and having Marcus Richmond as my crew chief this year has really been great for our team chemistry."
