Ombra Add Italian GT Commitment To Their 2014 Racing Programme

After a successful GT Open debut in Nürburgring there are yet more good news for Ombra Racing. The Italian team can indeed confirm that their 2014 campaign will include a one-car commitment in the Italian GT Championship.

The programme will start straight away the coming weekend, with the championship's opening round in Misano. On the Italian circuit, enitled to early departed MotoGP star Marco Simoncelli, Ombra Racing will line-up a Ferrari 458 GT3 for a strong pairing formed by Alex Frassineti and Alvaro Barba.

A 26-year old from Marino, in the outskirts of Rome, Frassineti has been one of the stars of Italian GT's recent history, clinching two wins and ten podium finishes in the last two seasons. Alongside him, 2010 GT Open champion Barba will provide the right mix of speed, racecraft and experience needed to top the sheets of a very competitive series.

It's worth to highlight that Misano won't be the only venue to host Ombra-prepped cars the coming weekend. The team will also take part in the "Grand Prix de Monaco Historique", an event that in the last few years has seen the Italian outfit enjoy a great deal of success, including a win in 2010 with a Martini MK34 driven by Emanuele Pirro. This year, Ombra will line-up a Ralt RT1 for Maurizio Bianco.

Davide Mazzoleni (Team Manager): "I'm really glad that finally everything is in place to start the Italian GT programme. Our home championship has developed well in the last few seasons, and we are proud to be a part of it. Furthermore, we are really happy to be able to work with Alex: we were speaking each other since winter-time as we both wanted to find a way to work together, and in the end the Italian GT Championship provided us the best option. Alvaro is the right team-mate to start this new adventure. He already raced with us last year so we know that he has both the speed and the experience to be a great asset to the team, together with the right attitude to succeed".
