"I'm just so happy. I can't thank the United Fiber & Data and MAZDASPEED crew enough. The guys have done such a great job. To come from where we did in practice to now is just incredible. The Cooper Tires did a really good job holding up, I think, because it was dry at the end so we were just running wets on dry and they held up. It was a little bit sketchy in the fast corners, but it was good. I think we're doing a really good job getting on top of conditions now so we'll just try and hold this same pace throughout the year."

Zach Veach, No. 26 RePLAY XD

• Two-time race winner was seen as high as P2 before he was pinched off track surface and incurred damage

• Remains points leader heading into the second race of the weekend

"I think we had a bit of a missed opportunity today. At the beginning stages of the race, I think we had the fastest car in the wet and we were making up a lot of progress. We were up to P2 - trying to pass for P2 - made a mistake, back to P6, made it all the way back to P3, and then we were just ran off the track, unfortunately. That bent the front suspension, so the rest of the race really from there was just in survival mode. Overall, I think our aggression was in the right place in the beginning, we just got caught out on some luck a little bit further in the race. We'll go on tomorrow and try to do a better job and be back where we need to be on the podium."

Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck

• Captures second podium of the season with second-place finish

• Marks his ninth Pro Mazda career podium

"Words can't describe this race - from the start to the checkered it was absolutely unreal. By far the most fun race of the entire Mazda Road to Indy so far. The race was really good, the car was really good until right in the final last laps when I started to battle with Neil (Alberico), the car went a little loose on us. Hopefully we'll go to Race Two with a good car and have an even better result. I want to thank everyone at Andretti Autosport that helped us out today for having a good race."

Garett Grist, No. 27 Lander Property Management/Bell Helmets

• After falling back to 12th, the rookie brought home a sixth-place finish

• Grimsby, Ontario native starts from the third position for Race Two

"We qualified fourth today, and we ended the race in P6 after falling back to the back of the pack after the start. We struggled today, but I think we'll work on things tonight and try again tomorrow to see if we can improve. Big thank you to everyone for their continued support."
