Butler University To Support 2003 Grad Ed Carpenter in 98th Indy 500

Verizon IndyCar Series team owner/driver Ed Carpenter will be part of a presentation Tuesday (May 13) from his alma mater, Butler University, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ed Carpenter Racing garage (C 26-30) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as the 2003 Butler Graduate prepares for the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race set for Sunday, May 25. Carpenter will display a Butler University logo on his race car and his racing helmet.

Carpenter will be making his 11th start in the Indianapolis 500 as a driver and his third Indy 500 event as a team owner with the No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet. Carpenter won the pole position for last year’s Indy 500 and led the most laps in the race (37). Carpenter recently received the prestigious Hilton Ultimus Brown Alumni Achievement Award at Butler.

In attendance Tuesday will be Butler University President James Danko, Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles (a Butler graduate), Butler Athletic Director Barry Collier, Associate Athletic Director Michael Freeman, Butler Men’s Basketball Head Coach Brandon Miller, Butler Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kurt Godlevske and the Butler Mascot Blue III (Trip) as well as Carpenter.

The attendees will be available for interviews and will have a photo opportunity with the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet in front of the Ed Carpenter Racing garages.
