2014 Charlotte: John Wes Townley NASCAR Truck Race Preview

John Wes Townley and Wauters Motorsports look to take home their first top-five finish in the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season at Charlotte Motor Speedway Friday, May 16, 2014. Townley comes off an 11th-place finish at Kansas Speedway Friday, May 7th, in the No. 5 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra, after an early accident derailed their top-five aspiration.

This will be the Camping World Truck Series second start on a 1.5-mile speedway in 2014. Townley and Wauters Motorsport both have history at the Concord, North Carolina track.

Team owner, Richie Wauters has a vast amount of experience at Charlotte Motor Speedway as a crew chief, posting two pole position starts, two victories, three top-five and six top-10 starts at the Concord, NC speedway.

Townley has four prior NASCAR Nationwide Series and two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a best finish of eighth-place in 2013 NCWTS race.

"Charlotte is one of the fastest 1.5-mile tracks we race on all year in the truck series," John Wes Townley said. "The Zaxby’s Tundra was fast when we tested there a few weeks ago and I don’t see us getting any slower once we unload on Thursday. We’ve had a pretty good season so far, now we just want to break the top-five and keep moving forward towards that win."

The North Carolina Education 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is slated to begin at 8:30pm Friday, May 16, 2014. Fox Sports 1, MRN & Sirius Satellite NASCAR Radio Channel 90 live race coverage begins at 8:00pm.
