Time-Lapse Captures Logo Painting Process Pioneered at Charlotte Motor Speedway

NASCAR’s long-awaited return to Charlotte Motor Speedway is just days away and speedway officials are busy making final preparations for the biggest back-to-back weekends in motorsports during the 10-Day Blockbuster of Racing.

Crews were busy Tuesday painting huge race logos on the infield grass. The process was pioneered by Alan Jones, who painted the first logos on grass at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1984.

Charlotte Motor Speedway captured the four-man crew painting the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race logo in the infield with a time-lapse video. The centerpiece required nearly three hours to paint from start to finish.

Fans can catch all the action at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race with a weekend pass for just $99. The weekend pass includes frontstretch tickets for the N.C. Education Lottery Camping World Truck Series race and Sprint Showdown on Friday, May 16; plus the no-speed-limit NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race qualifying and the blockbuster shootout for $1 million at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 17.

In addition, Jake Owen will perform a free concert as part of the All-Star Backyard Experience with Lowe’s, presented by Kingsford and Pennington. GRAMMY Award-winning pop rock group, Train, will add to the star-studded lineup with a concert as part of Time Warner Cable and Fox Sports 1 All-Star Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Country music star Darius Rucker, also a GRAMMY Award winner, will perform the national anthem.
