Baldan (Mercedes) And Kostka (Audi) Share Row 2, Championship Leader Francesco Sini (Chevrolet) Suffers Tough Break In 10th

Max Mugelli confirmed his status of favorite for Round 3 of the EUROV8SERIES at Mugello. In qualifying, the Tuscany-based racer confirmed to have the same pace he had set in practice. He brought his Team BMW Dinamic-prepared BMW M3 to the pole with an overall best lap of 1’57”322. Throughout the whole day, he stayed at the front for most of the time and, after briefly losing the point in Qualifying, he reclaimed the lead with a late flyer.

His most competitive rival was team-mate Maurizio Copetti, who ended up just four tenths of a second adrift and will take-off from the front row. The rolling start of Race 1 will feature on Row 2 Nicola Baldan, driving a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupé for R.R.T, and Tomas Kostka, who campaigns an Audi RS5 for the Audi Sport Italia operation. The Czech was in damage limitation mode on a tough track for his car. Championship leader Francesco Sini suffered from bad luck as his Chevrolet Camaro was stopped by a broken radiator and forced him to settle for 10th.

Rounding out the top-5, Davide Stancheris delivered a positive performance after Audi Sport Italia solved a clutch issue on his Audi RS5 that put him out of Practice 2. Also on third row will be Domenico Schiattarella on a Chevrolet Lumina fielded by Solaris Motorsport. He was followed by Niccolò Mercatali (BMW), Ermanno Dionisio (Audi) and Diego Romanini (Mercedes).

The two EUROV8SERIES races are scheduled for 10:00 AM and 15:15. The fans will be able to access the track’s grandstands for free, while the series will continue with its worldwide live TV coverage including - but not limited to - Mediaset Italia 2 in Italy and Motors TV in the pan-European area.
