The BTCC has entered a golden era with 31 entries for the 2014 season featuring a magnificent seven former champions. Current Touring Car king Andrew Jordan heads Gordon Shedden, Colin Turkington, Matt Neal and Jason Plato in the title race, whilst Fabrizio Giovanardi and Alain Menu are edging closer after returning to the fray.

More than ten drivers are in with a chance of victory at Oulton Park, which is renowned as the BTCC’s toughest circuit, as well as its most picturesque. This year there will be an additional challenge with the full International layout used for the first time since the 1990s.

The entry list includes Blackburn’s Adam Morgan, who took a superb third place at his home circuit last year. His WIX Racing team has switched to a brand new Mercedes A Class for 2014 and the car is already looking competitive. "If I could get another podium at Oulton it would be absolutely amazing, Adam said. "This year is one of the closest, there are so many cars now and brilliant drivers. Oulton’s a brilliant track and it’s where I always have a lot of supporters."

Like many fans, Adam can’t wait to see the huge grid of 29 BTCC cars from the 80s and 90s set to take to the track for the supporting Super Touring Trophy races on both days of the event. "I’ve seen a couple in the pit garages and they’re unbelievable bits of kit, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them out on track," he said.

The list includes double BTCC champion John Cleland, who won the opening race of the season at Thruxton with his 1998 Vauxhall Vectra. He will be joined by fellow Super Touring hero Patrick Watts, who also claimed a victory at the Hampshire circuit. Meanwhile Nick Whale will also be reliving his Touring Car career in a BMW M3.

Whilst Jason Plato and Matt Neal will be continuing their rivalry on track in the modern BTCC, their cars from the 1990s will be disputing the Cheshire tarmac too. Series organiser Dave Jarman will be on board Matt's 1998 Nissan Primera, whilst Warrington’s Mark Jones has entered an ex-Plato Renault Laguna from the following season.

Other cars to look out for include an ex-David Leslie Primera, and James Thompson’s Cavalier and Honda Accord. There will also be a rare Alfa Romeo 155, two Ford Mondeos from the final year of the formula, plus several BMWs and a 1980s Ford RS500 all of which should provide a spectacular sight! The weekend will also feature action on from the Ginetta Juniors, Ginetta GT Supercup, Renault UK Clio Cup and Formula Ford GB championships. In addition, there will be off-track fun with extreme adventures challenges, a free children's adventure playground, free face painting, and a trade village.
