Marcus Ericsson Penalized After Ruining Massa's Qualifying

By PaddockTalk.com Staff Writers

Caterham Formula One F1 driver Marcus Ericsson was penalized after initiating contact with Felipe Massa (Williams) during Q1 qualifying for the 2014 Formula One F1 Monaco Grand Prix GP. The Stewards heard from both drivers and team representatives and examined video evidence and determined that Ericsson was in breach of the regulations for "causing a collision with car 19 in Turn 5".

As a result, Ericson will be "required to start the Race from the Pit Lane" and issue 2 penalty points. Ericson now has two points total for the 12 month period.

As for Massa, he was unable to continue in qualifying.
