Sixth Row Start In Monaco For Draco And Fantin

Draco Racing endured a difficult qualifying session in Monaco. On the streets of the Principality, that is playing host to the third round of the F.Renault 3.5 championship, Pietro Fantin had enjoyed a good start of the weekend posting the fifth quickest time on Thursday, in the only Free Practice session available. With such premises Pietro was expected to keep momentum in today’s qualifying, but things didn’t go to plan: undeersteer issues prevented the Brazilian talent from repeating that performance, hampering his pace and forcing him to settle for P6 in Group B, meaning a 6th row start for the race.

Luca Ghiotto, who was part of Group A (in Monaco’s Qualifying the FR3.5 field is split in two groups to minimize traffic issues), posted a few good laps at the beginning of the session, but then the lack of mileage as a consequence of Thursday’s crash took his toll, together with some yellow flags that forced Luca to slow down while he was improving. In the end Ghiotto couldn’t to better than P10 in his group, hence starting from row 10 tomorrow.

Pietro Fantin: Q. Gr.B - P6; Grid - P11
"We had been quick in Practice, but the car was understeering a little. As that’s a behaviour I really don’t like, we tried to change it with some setup tweaks but today, maybe because the track had much more grip, the understeer issue was even worse. I couldn’t push as much as I wanted, and it was quite frustrating. Despite that, I could have been a bit quicker but I made a mistake in one of the few good laps I had, and wasted the chance”.

Luca Ghiotto: Q. Gr. A - P10; Grid - P20
"There’s not much to say, I knew that losing half of Thursday’s session due to the crash was going to hurt, and the outcome of this session clearly proved that. Without that issue I could have been a couple of seconds quicker, but it’s too late to rave about that. Tomorrow from P20 it will be a tough race, I hope that I will have some chances to make up some spots”.
