Ghiotto Will Start Monaco's Fr35 Race From 10th Row After Difficult Qualifying

They say that Monaco is the most unforgiving track in the F.Renault 3.5 calendar, and this weekend Luca Ghiotto is learning that lesson the hard way. The talented Italian driver, lined-up by Draco Racing, crashed on Thursday at Sainte Devote after a mistake under braking, just to discover that in the Principality a tiny error can ruin a whole weekend.

With just a single session of Free Practice available, the mileage lost on Thursday proved to be a big handicap for Luca: a rookie both in the series and in the streets of Monte-Carlo, Ghiotto didn’t have enough track time to set-up the car to his liking and to get acquainted with the track, and that hampered him big time in today’s qualifying. It was a real pity, because in the previous championship rounds in Monza and Alcaniz he had raised a lot of eyebrows with stunning performances. He will need one of those masterful drives tomorrow, as he will start the race from P20 on the grid.

Luca Ghiotto: Q. Gr. A - P10; Grid - P20

"There’s not much to say, I knew that losing half of Thursday’s session due to the crash was going to hurt, and the outcome of this session clearly proved that. Without that issue I could have been a couple of seconds quicker, but it’s too late to rave about that. Tomorrow from P20 it will be a tough race, I hope that I will have some chances to make up some spots”.
