The Youngest Rule FRenault 20 Alps In Austria The Race 1 Winner Is The 16 Years Old Isaakyan

Matevos Isaakyan managed to interrupt Nyck de Vries winning streak, seizing Red Bull Ring Race 1in the third round out of the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS seven season's venues. Turned 16 last 17th April, the Russian driver of JD Motorsport scored pole position in a dramatic qualifying session, due to several penalties awarded for not respecting the track limits. He than managed to defend the lead for all the 16 laps completed

Behind him on podium the Koiranen GP duo made by George Russell and the same de Vries. The Dutch thus acquired some more precious points for his Championship, where he is still the undisputed leader.

Positive result for the Monaco driver Charles Leclerc (Fortec Motorsports), always in the stream of the top three. Thumb up for the Canadian Luke Chudleigh, fifth with the Tech 1 Racing car ahead of the Italian Alessio Rovera (Cram Motorsport) and of the wild card Ignazio D'Agosto, him too racing for Koiranen GP. Completing the top ten were Dario Capitanio (BVM Racing), Alex Bosak (Prema Powerteam) and James Allen (Arta Engineering).

Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering) was instead the author of the best recovery. He managed 11th after having started from the last spot on the grid as after qualify there was not enough fuel in the car.

THE REPORT. An uncorrect lineup forced a new formation lap. At the start Isaakyan easily defends his leadership ahead of de Vries with Russel that slips third. At lap 2 Korneev spins at turn 1 and Kodric and Gachet are involved. The Safety Car joins the track for just one lap and at the re-start is Peccenini's turn to spin at the end of the straight. There is no need for the Safety Car this time. Leclerc is fourth. Allen, eight looses ground and is passed by Capitanio and Bosak. Gachet keeps pushing hard taking eleventh. The focus is however on the top three. With just 3 minutes to go de Vries makes his move on Isaakyan without being able to pass the rival. Than is Russell's turn. He is however capable of passing his team mate who has to watch his back from Leclerc. There is no time though with the first win for Isaakyan and Russell and de Vries on podium

"I made a good start and had a good pace in the early stages. After the Safety Car I just tried to administrate my lead, but I made a minor mistake and de Vries made his move. The fight between him and Russell helped me in the last laps. I'm very happy" commented Isaakyan on podium
